Shuvosaurus

Shuvosaurus

Shuvosaurus is a beaked reptile of the Late Triassic of Texas. It was desribed by Sankar Chatterjee in 1993 after being discovered by his son, Shuvo. It was originally thought to be a Triassic member of a Cretaceous family of dinosaurs - Ornithomimidae. A discovery of a related species, Effigia, on Ghost Ranch had shown that Shuvosaurus was more closely related to Crocidilians than to dinosaurs. All similarities that Shuvosaurus hasin common with Ornithomimidae are convergent evolution. This discovery has put to light that the taxon Chatterjeea is the same as Shuvosaurus.
